Life's a Marathon...

I have officially signed up to run the half marathon in Dallas on March 25th! I'm super excited! It's something that I've wanted to do for some time, and the main reason I want to do it is because I feel like I won't be able to. It's always been something that seems completely terrifying to me! It just seems like such a long distance. So I feel like there's no better reason to do it. I know I'll feel amazing once I have completed it!

On top of that, it's major incentive to start running again. I'm ashamed at how long it had been.. So hopefully I can train for the marathon AND get back in shape. But somehow, having a goal bigger than losing weight (and with a deadline) seems like it will help. Also, it was $100 to register for the marathon, so there will be no backing out!

The Little Rock marathon was already full, so my friend Susan (who has run 1 full marathon and two half marathons) decided we will take a trip to Dallas! It's a Rock and Roll marathon, which means that there is a different band playing at the beginning of each mile. Definitely makes it more fun and entertaining! And I'm sure it will be a nice distraction as we are getting worn out!

Anyway I'm really excited to do this and hopefully I can achieve my weight loss goal in the process. I'm going to try not to obsess over what I eat and just try to eat healthy, whole foods. Plus, I bought some weight loss shakes from a friend who is selling Arbonne, so we'll see how it goes!

The plan is to run 2-3 miles most days during the week and then Saturdays Susan and I will do a long run. We start with 5 miles (I think) and then bump it up each week. The last Saturday we will probably run about 10 miles, and then the day of the marathon will be the first time we go the full distance. I ran two miles today for my first day of training.I was surprised that I didn't feel very out of shape at all considering how long it has been! It gave me hope that my stamina hasn't completely disappeared. I think I'm going to try doing 3 miles tomorrow.

I'll post again soon to update on my marathon training!
