The Dieter's Worst Enemy

The hangover. It is definitely not the dieter's friend! Pretty much all I want to do when I'm hungover is eat because I feel like that will make me feel better. But I don't want to eat salads or grilled chicken. Nope. It's gotta be fast food, carbs, or potato chips! lol. Not exactly on my detox diet. So today was a rough day.... I had to open at work, so add major lack of sleep on top of the hangover and my body was pretty much as anti-diet as you can get. Honestly, I didn't even care that much about eating anything unhealthy. Oatmeal sounded delicious. But the idea of having to drink my breakfast (aka - vegetable juice) was not appealing at all. I just felt like I needed something more in my system. But I told myself I was not going to use my hangover as an excuse to cheat. So I made my juice and went on my way to work. Unfortunately when I got to work, there was a family meal. Macaroni and cheese (remember...I work at a mozzarella bar where the cheese is imported from Italy 3 times a week, so we're talking HIGH QUALITY macaroni and cheese) with prosciutto mixed in. OMG! It smelled delicious, it looked delicious, and it might as well have been screaming "CHEAT ON YOUR DIET" in my face! Worst of all, it just taunted me over and over again because even if I invoked my will power and walked away, it was there the next time I had to go into the kitchen, and the time after that, for hours and hours and hours. I feel like I was on The Biggest Loser and this was some kind of temptation challenge! But you know what? I didn't give in. I didn't even take one bite. I decided firmly that that stupid pasta was not going to break me! And then my awesome kitchen manager saved my life and made me a salad with spinach and beets on the house. Hallelujah!

I used today as my day off exercise since I had to work early and I didn't get off work until after 5.

Breakfast: Romaine and carrot juice. Lunch: Avocado salad and baked carrots, beets, and parsnips. Dinner: Salad with sundried tomatoes and goat cheese and salmon. Snacks: Beet salad at work and dark chocolate.

I can't believe it's 2011 already! I feel like a lot of things are going to happen for me this year...I'm just not sure exactly what. Here's to 2011 bringing us all a lot of happiness!

Good night.
