Armageddon

We had some really bad storms come through last night, and I found out early this morning that a tree fell on Grant's house! Then later in the morning, we found out that the house across the street from his also got hit with a tree and two people inside died. :( Apparently no one realized that there were still people inside the house, until the woman's sister got there and was frantic because she wasn't answering her phone. So Grant and his room mate went over to look. His room mate found the bodies of the woman and her son and had to tell the sister. I can't even imagine how horrible it must have been.

Grant's roommate's bedroom. His bed (which he was in at the time) was about 5 feet from where the tree came in.

The Backyard.

A shot of the house across the street. Sort of hard to see. The street was filled with news crews.

A view of the tree from "inside" the house.

The other side of the tree. The wind tore it right out of the ground!

So it has been kind of a crazy day. Grant's power and gas are out, so he is going to come over later and stay with me. For today, I've said to hell with calories and am going to make us a nice dinner. Chicken stuffed with spinach and ricotta, spaghetti, and whole wheat rolls.

It's scary to remember how fragile life can be. Stop and be thankful for the people around you.

  1. Holy shit. That is some scary crap, dude. Just a reminder of how much power nature really has. And that every moment we have is truly a gift.
